COVID-19 vaccination requirements removed

In August 2023 we commenced consultation on a proposal to revoke the UnitingCare COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements Policy (Policy). As part of the consultation process, we invited and received feedback from employees, unions and health and safety representatives, with some responses in support of, and some against that proposal. Thank you to everyone who participated. All feedback has been considered and evaluated.

A decision has been made to remove the COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements Policy effective from today, given the high vaccination rates and levels of natural immunity amongst the Queensland population. This means that from today, we will no longer require Workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 (including primary or booster doses) to work in any part of UnitingCare Queensland, including within our hospitals, aged care facilities, in the community, our corporate offices and within our family and disability services.

While we are removing the vaccination requirement, UnitingCare continues to strongly encourage employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 including keeping up-to-date with COVID-19 boosters in the interests of best practice and personal and community safety. We recommend all workersfollow ATAGI advice on COVID-19 vaccination. If you have any questions about the removal of the Policy, please contact your leader or emailemployeerelations@ucareqld.com.au

We acknowledge the past few years have been challenging and disruptive due to COVID-19 and we thank you for your efforts.
